Creativity is a process that Papa God loves to use in a way that reveals His loving healing and transformation. "Sozo" is a Greek word that means to make well, whole, restore, or rescue. This one day intensive class will be an opportunity to actively engage Holy Spirit and allow Him to bring a fresh perspective regarding your value, purpose, dreams and the journey itself. We'll be painting (or drawing) in order to allow that visual creative expression to become a part of the conversation with God and a reminder of the amazing things that He will reveal to you through this time. If you have a hunger to experience co-creative partnership with Holy Spirit, as well to see how He wants to bring freedom, wholeness, healing, and full life, then this will be a great class that will change the way you look at your creative process forever!

Mosaics and Design - Fundamentals and Beyond
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitator: Amy Haid Skill Level: All Levels Welcome
Mosaics are so spiritual as they bring together our broken pieces and allow the Lord to make something beautiful from our brokenness ! My prayer for the class is that you will get a sense of how you can take the ordinary and make it into your own unique story .
We will begin with the fundamentals in working with stained glass and constructing a mosaic . This is for the beginner but can be for any level as we will also be discussing my 20 years of hints and tricks along the way! Design or as we refer to it , “andamento “ is the visual flow of a mosaic created by arranging the glass in rows, and it can make the background of your mosaic as visually interesting as the figures in the foreground .Often this step is not taught and is what will set your mosaics apart and really give them that professional look!
You will be constructing your own mosaic stone , as a paper weight or door stopper, so that you have something small to pack in your suitcase but we will dive much deeper in comparing mosaics in class and online to really see how this can shape your mosaics into quality work! You will also have a handout which will get your started in finding great resources in mosaics and then we will dream big on what you’d like to do in the future and how I can help you get started ! You won’t want to miss this !
I’m looking forward to teaching you ! I’ll be supplying all your tools so you can “try out “ this medium before you have to invest in your own tools - I will also be bringing some fun extras that you can purchase ( optional ) to add into your mosaics , but all supplies will be provided in your supply fee so that you don’t have to carry them for the week!

Live Painting as a Visual Scribe: Posture, Prayer and the Prophetic
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitator: Bryn Gillette Skill Level: All Levels Welcome
Since 2005 Bryn Gillette has been regularly painting live during church services, special events, conferences, weddings, and even funerals. He has come to describe the role as being a "visual scribe": being in tune with the Holy Spirit and documenting the real time unfolding of God's presence in visual form. "In the course of the many hundreds of live painting experiences I've had, I have come to see the consistent important our posture during the process of live painting; our posture to the Lord, to those we are serving, to the Body of Christ serving alongside us, and to our own work and materials." Live painting often requires setting aside preconception and working fast, drawing upon skills that have been honed ahead of time. With that in mind, this workshop revolves around both a substantial firsthand experience of live painting (privately in our group first and then optionally in the larger conference) as well as a series of skill developing techniques isolated key elements of (fast) paint mixing, color theory, paint application techniques, and drawing human figures quickly and accurately. "I was once asked by a pastor to join him on stage to paint as I was inspired by the Spirit, and despite NO experience seeing or experiencing this process, I said yes. I look back and see that as the genesis moment God took my artistic loaf of bread and fish and multiplied it 1000 fold. I pray this is a moment of awakening for others who long to paint live AS an expression of worship."

Photographing and Editing Artwork for Reproductions
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitators: Jacob Daniels Skill Level: All Levels Welcome
I have owned my own Gicleé business Overflow Studios since 2013. It was born out of a necessity to reproduce my own artwork. Since then I have developed a process of image capture, proofing, and reproducing on paper and canvas. Many have asked me to share this knowledge so I am offering a one day class at GOA to do so. I feel art reproduction is an important arsenal for the visual artist to have because it allows for more people to experience and enjoy a piece of art. It is also a great way for an artist to generate income from their work. In this class we will learn:
1. What resources and items you will need to correctly take a picture of 2d artwork. (Cameras, lights, tripod etc. ) 2.How to prepare and correctly light a piece of artwork to capture it. 3. How to transfer that image to a computer and use photoshop to edit and compare to the original. 4. I will also talk about how I print and sell my gicleés.
God tells us to let our light shine before men so that they can give the glory to God, if you're an artist in the Kingdom this means sharing your artwork with the world! I believe this is a very good tool to have under any artists belt and I look forward to see you all at GOA 2020.

Restoring & Expanding My Creative Ability
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitator: Jim & Pat Banks Skill Level: All Levels Welcome
For an artist not being able to operate creatively on a consistent basis is extra-ordinarily important and is always something that gets and keeps your attention. Even if you only create on a part-time basis, you need to be able to do it on a demand basis. Often, we find that we are stuck, in a rut, feeling blank, directionless, no ideas, and consequently wonder if we’ll ever be able to create freely again … along with, why is this happening? We may have had glimpses of the future, but have no idea how to get there, which leaves us feeling inadequate and hopeless.
In the past 17 years of full-time personal ministry and in the ten years we have been working with GOA artisans we’ve also learned a lot about what stifles or even kills creativity, along with how to deal with it; traumas from childhood physical and sexual abuse, over protective or overbearing parents, being a child of addicted parents, codependence, performance, perfectionism, premature deaths and divorces, the myriad dysfunctional belief systems taught to us by the system of the world, the challenges of navigating strained and broken relationships, along with a number of other equally difficult emotional and spiritual elements.
We recognize it most often when we realize the enormity of the struggle in deciding if our work is good enough considering what everyone else is doing, answering the question of “When is it finished?”, wrestling with the task of trying to put a price tag on it, or deciding whether the work will ever make it out of the back of the closet into the daylight where someone can actually see it and finally, Can I handle it if no one likes it?
We’ve been able to break the workshop down into very practical, yet very profound pieces that help restore creativity, provides insight to answer some of the above noted questions, but also ushers you into a more vibrant life, one that enables you to live and create as you’ve always wanted to. Many former attendees have found out who they are and why they were created as a direct result of attending this workshop. This workshop is interactive, instructive, and it provides some concrete tools for personal development and discipline that allows you to discover things about yourself you didn’t know were missing and provides a plan to help them mature rapidly. The thing that we are the proudest of is that this workshop will bring you closer to the one who created you, which is always reflected in your own creativity.

Enamel Glass Beadmaking & Jewelry Design
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitator:Jami Rains Skill Level: All Levels Welcome
Experience a world where fire meets glass by making your own glass beads. Enameling is the art of applying glass to metal (copper). There are a number of enameling methods. The technique you will use to make an enamel bead is called torch enameling. The glass you will be using is a soft glass. Its melting point is relatively low compared to other types of glass. This makes it easy to melt in the flame of a small propane torch. Making enamel glass beads is easy and fun for anyone. Watching the glass melt and the beautiful colors run together in the flame is relaxing, even meditative and can be addicting! So join the fun and learn how to make your own glass “beauties”.
In this class you will make 6-8, one-of-a-kind, beads, using various colors of glass and techniques. The beads will cool during lunch break. Following lunch, you will use the beads you created to make a finished piece of jewelry, or two. The basics of crimping, stringing, using headpins to make pendants and earrings will be covered. Supplies will be provided such as clasps, seed and accent beads. You are welcome to bring your own charms, beads or findings that may be meaningful to you to add to your jewelry. This is a great opportunity to design a beautiful piece of jewelry that speaks from the heart, for a keepsake or to bless someone with. Prayer, Paint & Purpose
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitator: Sandy Hall Skill Level:Beginner
We will spend our class day in 3 parts.
(1) Prayer: A Biblical Meditation Model. Using this very simple model, we will engage in God's word that helps the text to come alive. This exercise is helpful in creating communication with God and encouraging your prayer/devotion time. It can become a part of your art and an expression of His love.
(2) Paint: We will explore the beauty realm of God together as we worship in color with freedom, movement, music and paint! You don't need to be an experienced artist to participate in this non-rushed activity. Come and allow God's Spirit to work through your hands to create a masterpiece that only the two of you can create.
(3) Purpose: Together, we will do a hands on exercise in learning to hear God's voice, receive fresh vision, and how to create without distraction. There will be paint, paper and a 'surprise' element to orchestrate the exercise. There will also be an opportunity for me to sow into you with personal prayer and impartation.
I believe that by the end of our day together, you will be encouraged and equipped with new tools to move forward in your journey as part of God's army of artist's. I look forward to meeting you and coming alongside you to open up new areas of creativity and inspiration. God Bless!

Embracing the Four Seasons and Activating Your Five Senses in Your Creative Journey
God created the four seasons within nature for us to learn from in our own creative journey. The morning session will include painting scenes from each season with reflections on our own personal creative journeys in a metaphorical analysis. In this workshop we will explore our personal creative seasons in relation to the strengths, challenges, and joy of each season of the year:
Winter--Rest
Spring--New Growth
Summer--Flourish
Fall--Harvest
The afternoon session will include explorations of each of our God-given five senses in relation to how it affects our artistic practice and our relationship with our Creator. God made our five senses to learn who He is in greater depths. Time will be spent at sensory stations to activate our senses to
Hearing God
Seeing God
Feeling God's Presence
Smelling His Fragrance
Tasting His Goodness
Depending on the weather, a nature walk with time to sketch and journal to record what we observe will be part of the afternoon session. By exploring our five senses while sitting with God, participants will increase their awareness of the intricacies of God's creation. This experience will activate new creative awareness in our artistic journeys. Watercolor medium and journals will be used in this workshop. Watercolor painting techniques will not be emphasized.

Portrait Painting From Photographs
Time Frame: Saturday, 9-4 pm Facilitator:Luann Smith Skill Level:Intermediate
People are precious to God’s heart, and to those who love them. We have a wonderful opportunity as artists to bless someone with an artistic likeness of someone special. In this class, I hope to teach how to capture that “spark” of someone’s personality in your artwork, even though you may never meet that person. God knows them. I believe that as we paint and tune in to that still small voice of the Holy Spirit, He is able to fill in that gap.
As you work on painting a portrait from a photo that you bring, I will share what I have learned from many years of experience painting both candid and formal commissioned portraits. Questions will be answered as they come up while you work, and I will also talk about adjusting color and perspective, some color theory and mixing colors, how a photograph can distort color, and most importantly—what to leave out.
This is an intermediate level class, students should be able to draw a person and paint in color. You are welcome to work in whatever painting medium you are most comfortable with, and should bring your own supplies.
